How Much Does a Crit'Air Sticker Cost? UK Price Guide

Updated 22 June 2026

A Crit’Air sticker costs about £4.30 direct from the official French government website, or £7 all-in through France Stickers, which completes the whole application for you in English. Avoid the resellers charging £20 to £50 for the same sticker. Here is exactly what you pay, and what you get for it.

The sticker itself is identical whoever applies for it. It is issued by the French government, linked to your registration number, and lasts the lifetime of the vehicle. The only difference between these options is the service wrapped around the application, and how much that service costs.

The official price

The official fee charged by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition is €3.72 plus international postage, which comes to roughly £4.30 for a UK delivery. This is the genuine cost of the sticker, and you cannot get it any cheaper anywhere.

The catch is the process. The official site is only available in French, you have to identify your own emission category from your vehicle’s Euro standard, upload both sides of your V5C, and there is no UK support if the application is rejected or the sticker does not arrive. For confident French speakers happy to do it all themselves, it is the cheapest route, and we will always tell you so.

What France Stickers costs and what is included

France Stickers charges £7.00 all-in. That single price includes:

  • The official French government fee and international postage
  • The entire application completed for you in plain English
  • Automatic Crit’Air category calculation from your registration (no working it out yourself)
  • A digital copy emailed to you, valid at French roadside checks while the sticker is in transit
  • UK-based support if anything goes wrong, and a full refund if we cannot submit your application

So the real question is not “£4.30 or £7” - it is whether the few pounds extra is worth having the whole thing handled in English, with your category worked out automatically and someone to chase it if it goes missing. For most UK drivers heading to France once or twice a year, it is.

Why are some Crit’Air sites so expensive?

This is where it pays to be careful. A number of websites charge £20, £30, or even £50 for a single Crit’Air sticker. You get nothing extra for the money - the sticker is exactly the same one the French government issues for around £4.30. You are simply paying a much larger markup for the same admin.

A total price above £15 to £20 is a clear warning sign. Before paying anyone, check our guide on how to spot Crit’Air scam sites, and see the full side-by-side comparison of Crit’Air services.

Is it worth paying more than the official fee?

It depends on you:

  • Confident in French and happy to do the admin? Use the official site for about £4.30. It is the cheapest legitimate option and there is no shame in it.
  • Want it done properly in English, with your category sorted automatically and support if it goes wrong? A small flat service fee like ours removes the hassle for a few pounds.
  • Being asked for £20 or more? Walk away. You are overpaying for the identical sticker.

There is no premium version of the sticker. Paying more never gets you a “better” Crit’Air - so the only thing worth paying for is a genuinely easier, English-language process at a fair price.
